The Old Bradfieldian Sailing Club historically has a good track record in the Arrow Trophy Open Sailing competition, coming first three years in a row in 2002, 2003 and 2004. In 2013 the team made a resurgence and finished a respectable 4th out of 22 teams This year they were back on winning form, and won the whole regatta, beating last years winner , Abingdon, 2-0 in the final “match race”, so bringing back the Arrow Trophy for the 4th time, after a gap of many years!
The event, which typically attracts between 15 and 20 schools, takes place on the challenging waters of the Solent aboard sleek Sunfast 37ft yachts with a maximum crew of eight permitted.
The race format is short fleet racing on Saturday finishing up in Cowes late afternoon, with the Arrow Trophy Dinner at the Royal Corinthian Yacht Club in the evening.
On the Sunday, the top four schools from the fleet races go into a series of match races to determine the overall winner, whilst the remaining competitors fleet race to determine the winner of the Charterhouse Bowl.
