WAIFS – next fixture versus Malvern at Malvern on 14 July

The Waifs continue to shine in the main Cricketer Cup competition. The first match was versus Monmouth School, their first year in the competition, which Bradfield won. Both Harry Came (D 12-16) and Sheridon Gumbs (D 17-22) made some good runs and Charlie Gwynn (F 12-17) took 7 wickets for 20 runs, the best figures of a Bradfield Waif in the Cricketer Cup competition. On 30 June the Waifs played Bedford College on Pit winning the match with Sheridan scoring 100 runs. In the next round the team face Malvern at their home ground on 14 July. The ground at Malvern is very small, so it is only possible to score fours, no sixes. It will be a very tough game, but we have some fantastic young cricketers, so the team are hopeful.

WAIFS OVER 50S – next fixture versus The Oundle Rover at Bradfield on 21 July

The Cricketer Cup wanted to give ‘the old and bold’ an opportunity to play and approached six schools to participate. In the first match Bradfield were drawn against Winchester and managed to chase 180 odd and won, the second match versus the Eton Ramblers was tougher but Bradfield still prevailed. The team are now due to play the Oundle Rovers at Bradfield on 21 July in the final. It’s wonderful to have a squad of 15 still keen to play.

Full information about both competitions in the Cricketer Cup is available on the The Cricketer Cup webpage.

The Waifs would love your support, please do come along.
