The AGM and Annual Dinner of the OB Golf Society took place again in the surroundings of the Royal Thames Yacht Club in Knightsbridge on Wednesday 11 January.
Over 20 Alumni attended the evening, including many of the Halford Hewitt Team, managed this year by Mike Jones (F 67-71). Mike reported on the very encouraging 2022 campaign and indeed preparations for the 2023 event at the end of March at Royal St Georges. The first-round opponents, co-incidentally drawn by the Halford Hewitt committee the very same evening, will be Winchester College.
The evening, led by current OBGS president Martin Young and Secretary, Andrew Shilton, was the first to be held since the end of the pandemic. This year the OBGS tour will be west country based, visiting the North Devon coast, courtesy of the current captain, Andrew Eve.
Preparations are also being made for the celebration of the centenary of the OBGS in 2026.
The wine for the evening was again courtesy of a generous legacy to the Society by Peter Slot (E 46-51) and the OBGS wanted to thank the RTYC and George Burne (A 48-53) for a very enjoyable evening.
For those alumni who might like to consider joining the OBGS, take a look at the OBGS Club page and if you have any questions contact the Club Secretary, Andrew Shilton (C 73-78) andrew@janeshilton.co.uk
