The OBGS have selected their 2022 team for the highly competitive Halford Hewitt tournament. Since 1927, the Club has competed in this prestigious event, contested between 64 schools, each selecting a team of five pairs. Described as 'the greatest of all truly amateur tournaments', it is the largest of its kind in the world. The OBGS has been losing finalist on three occasions, in 1988, 2001 and 2014. Will 2022 be their year?
The Royal Cinque Ports Golf Club, known as the spiritual home of the Halford Hewitt, will be hosting the competition this year, with Bradfield being drawn to start against Liverpool - a strong team who beat Epsom (one of the Top 5 sides in the HH) in the first round last year.
Competition for places on the team was extremely fierce now that there are so many talented golfers in the OBGS and the following players were selected to represent Bradfield:
Jack Banton & Jamie Gallacher
Jack Beckett & Adam Williams
Justin Foord & Matt McCleery
Jez Silver & Angus Creighton
Jonny Rafferty & Matt Ruffell
Travelling Reserve: Tom Watson
Many Congratulations especially to Matt Ruffell for securing a place at his first HH and also welcome back to Jonny Rafferty and Jez Silver.
The competition is running from 7 - 10 April 2022 and the first round game will be played at 12:25 at the RCP course.
All support to our team is most welcome.
