To repair the crenelations at the top of the clock tower the contractors had to remove the lead flashings and in doing so they discovered the work of some graffiti artists of the past. We have looked into the archive to try to uncover their identities.
The oldest engraving found was 'H Stevens 1864', potentially Henry Stevens, the Founder's eldest son who lived 1847-1907.
