The Warden, Council and Headmaster of Bradfield College are seeking an experienced Finance Director to lead strategic and operational finance across the Bradfield Group, and to take a key leadership role in helping to develop its future position and strategy.

Bradfield College has inspired generations of young people to make a difference to the world since 1850. Set in a stunning rural Berkshire location, Bradfield provides an outstanding day and boarding education to 840 pupils aged 13 to 18, of whom over 85% are boarders. The College enjoys a well-established reputation for being one of the UK’s leading co-educational independent schools where pupils develop as well-rounded, independent young adults within an atmosphere of empathy and tolerance. St Andrew’s, a highly successful prep school with 325 pupils aged 3-13, located just two miles from the College, joined the Bradfield Group in December 2021. As well as these two schools, the Group comprises the enterprise division of the College, Bradfield Commercial Limited.

The successful candidate will be a commercially minded and entrepreneurial finance professional, capable of ensuring the Group’s finances, investments and financial systems can both support and anticipate its educational ambitions.

Building on the existing strong platform and reporting to the Head of Bradfield College, Dr Chris Stevens, the appointee will be a qualified accountant and an accomplished strategic business planner. They will have excellent communication skills and proven experience in managing a high-performing finance team, and the intellectual abilities and sensitivity to command the respect of staff, students, parents, governors and external stakeholders. A resonance with the distinguished educational record and inclusive mission of the two schools is essential.
