News from the College |
On the evening of the 11th November 2021, all Upper Sixth pupils in year 13 were invited to attend a mock ‘general’ interview. i.e. competency-based question styles of the type used by many companies as part of their recruitment processes. All students prepare a CV in advance and are given real interview practice with a group of business professionals including Bradfieldians, parents and former parent volunteers.
In all we had 40 professionals supporting the Horizons team this year, due to the size of the year group and to help with the event. Half of these were parents of current upper sixth pupils and the rest from previous practice sessions, our network, local recruitment agencies etc. We are incredibly lucky to have interviewers from many professions including doctors, solicitors, engineers, accountants, artists, journalist and entrepreneurs, so that most pupils were interviewed by someone in the area of work in which they have an interest. Each pupil received written, and in most cases verbal, feedback as a result. They find this very useful, constructive and informative, not to mention the fact that they all now have a CV ready to use and tweak for many years to come.
Thank you to all those professionals who give their time freely to be involved and to help the College and pupil body to succeed.
Student feedback is always positive about the evening event and likewise guest interviewers are pleased to share their experience.
