News from the College |
As our Oscar visitors are set to arrive this week, the Headmaster is preparing to bring the curtain down on our year of fundraising as he runs the 2023 Istanbul Marathon.
Over the last year a huge number of Bradfield community members have very kindly supported our whole school fundraising initiative for Oscar, which our Headmaster, Dr Chris Stevens, kicked off with his debut as a marathon runner last Autumn. Between that event and various House initiatives we have so far raised some £16,500 for the Oscar Foundation. In order formally to bring an end to this year of fundraising, Chris is once again putting on his running shoes and seeking to complete an intercontinental marathon in Istanbul, at the beginning of November. Any further sponsorship for this great cause that can help us reach our overall target of £20,000 would be much appreciated.
We are deeply grateful to all of you who have already supported Oscar as we look forward to welcoming the touring team to Bradfield for what promises to be an unforgettable few days.
OUR STORY
In October 2018 we welcomed 15 Mumbai girls from the OSCAR Foundation’s Kick It Like A Girl Tour to the College as part of a life changing football programme which marked the beginning of a new partnership for Bradfield.
Now, five years on, we are excited to welcome back the OSCAR Foundation as they bring a touring team back to Bradfield in Autumn 2023. Our staff and pupils are dedicated to providing an enriching visit for the team involving a combination of academic lessons, cultural opportunities and a football match against a College XI.
Each time OSCAR teams have stayed with us and on the other occasions the OSCAR Founder, Ashok Rathod has visited Bradfield to talk to our pupils about the work OSCAR does to help children whose circumstances are profoundly different, our pupils have responded superbly to the opportunity to support this cause.
As we look ahead to the next OSCAR Tour, for a mixed group of boys and girls, in Autumn 2023, our Boarding Houses have pledged to dedicate some of their annual fundraising efforts to raise funds for the Foundation while the College and its pupils will be running a number of other fundraising initiatives in the build up.
