Reunions and Events |
Staff from Bradfield were in the Far East for the Boarding Schools Shows being hosted in Bangkok and Hong Kong in March and to promote the College to prospective families in Asia who may like to come to Bradfield to study. This was combined with events to engage with the wider Bradfield community in Asia which proved a very popular idea.
With gratitude to Thai Bradfieldian Parate Attavipach (B 84-88), the Headmaster Dr Chris Stevens and Al MacEwen, Director of the Bradfield Society, hosted an Old Bradfieldian Dinner in Bangkok on Tuesday 19 March 2024 which was a great success. It was hosted at Parate’s restaurant called North Restaurant in the Wattana District of the city, with a five-course meal of traditional North Thailand dishes enjoyed by all the guests. This multi-award winning restaurant is very much highly recommended for any Bradfieldian visiting Bangkok.
The last time the College were in Bangkok was in 2016 for a similar dinner and it was good to see so many Bradfieldians continuing their connection with the College. Those attending the dinner included: Paul Davey (A 70-75), Jol Larpent (H 92-97), Dan Bunnag (F 81-85), Monchai Chokephaibulkit (G 85-88), Richard Hobbs (B 76-81), Thana Jotibundhit (B 77-81), Subhasakdi Krishnamra (B 78-83), Prapon Kumjim (E 86-91), Nathee Limpisvasti (B 91-92), Ben Napolitano (E 09-14), Arrut Navaraj (B 82-87), Teerapol Rattakul (G 91-93) and Somkrit Krishnamra (B 91-96) with his two sons who are planning to come to study at Bradfield in the coming years.
It was great to reunite roommates, reconnect friends and listen also to news of Bradfield today from the Headmaster, who spoke of the continued spirit of the College, its good health and its successes over recent years. He spoke of the quiet satisfaction of seeing the College's current pupils enjoy their own journey through the school, getting the most out of what is on offer and making those same connections and friendships that will endure, just like those enjoyed at all College reunions. Chris also spoke about developments and initiatives that have taken place in recent years, including the joy of seeing the new St Andrews Study Centre in action, a place many guests remember from their time as a place of worship on special days of celebration.
A drinks reception was also hosted in Hong Kong for Bradfieldians and local parents which was also well supported. Bradfieldians who are located in Hong Kong include: Karen King (J 92-94), Clive Cheung (H 04-08), Alexander Hewitt (H 08-13), Kenneth Ho (F 03-05), Jeffrey Ho (C 01-03), Joshua Leung (C 02-05), Regan Lo (A 10-12), Julian Luk (E 01-06), Patrick Purnell-Edwards (D 57-61), William Raeburn-Ward (H 95-00) and Rio Suen (G 05-07).
