Carols by Candlelight

Warms a stormy winter's night

Whilst the sporting activities of Winter Bradfield Day were rightly cancelled due to the predicted ferocity of Storm Darragh, hardy parents, alumni and friends of Bradfield braved the winds and rain to attend Carols by Candlelight in the College Chapel on Sunday evening.

I don't think too many runners or hockey players were upset to miss out on the experience of being simultaneously soaked and chilled, but it is a shame to have to cancel this event that is looked forward to by so many.

Those who arrived at the Chapel door on Sunday evening did so with pace, delighted to reach the shelter and warmth of the chapel, a-glow with candles on window sills, red ribbons on the pillars and a magnificent Christmas tree by the altar. Parents, alumni and friends were treated to magnificent performances by the choir and were then able to join in full voice for the congregational carols. Many thanks to Bradfieldian readers Matthew Keel (E 17-22) and Roger Vincent-Silk (B 54-57) who spoke wonderfully.

After the service guests were invited to gather for mulled wine and mince pies in Big School, a great opportunity for them to catch up with friends and members of staff. See pictures from the event in the Carols by Candlelight 2024 gallery.
