We were thrilled to welcome back some of the cast from the previous performances of the Greek Play Oedipus Tyrannus at Bradfield to see this year’s Greek Play named Oedipus The King on Saturday 24 June 2023. 26 years since the last performance is a long time and those who were able to join us loved making their return to Greeker once again.

Patrick Wilson (G 75-80) who played Oedipus in 1979 was able to join us and was photographed with the poster of him from 1979 with what looked like bloodied sugar puffs on his face! He was the only cast member from the 1979 who was able to make it on the day.

From the 1997 cast we were thrilled that we had George Masters (E 94-99), Tom Dingle (C 83-98), Claire Pilkington (I 95-97), Isabella Calthorpe (K 96-98), Hannah Knapp (I 96-98) and Nick Collett (H 93-98) with us on Saturday night. Then on Monday evening, Tristan Daws (E 95-00), former member of College staff Hailz Osborne who directed the play returned with Matt Barber (E 96-01) to enjoy the evening performance.

Hannah described it as “so special to see some of the old faces” again and said they ended up staying in Greeker until 11pm in the pitch dark reminiscing. She added “Feels like it all happened last year not 26 years ago!”
